Minecraft rolled out the Caves and Cliffs Part II update during the 2021 holiday season. It introduced several new features, and one of the most exciting new features added to the game was the Dripleaf.
The Dripleaf in Minecraft is a unique type of plant that is divided into the large dripleaf and the small dripleaf. These plants grow naturally in the Lush Caves biome and can provide a pond-like aesthetic wherever they grow. However, it should be noted that they are not part of the game’s recipes.

What is Minecraft Dripleaf?
The Caves and Cliffs update in Minecraft has added several new flora and fauna to the game. Among the different plant species added to the game, Dripleaf is one of the most popular items.
There are two types of drip leaves in the game, which change as they grow. These are:
- Small drip leaf (stem part below)
- Large drip leaf (leaf part above)

They are mainly found in the Lush Caves biome and are expected to be introduced in the Caves and Cliffs update, Part II. These are the new additions that give players more platforming options. In addition to being naturally produced in Lush Caves, they can sometimes be found in the trade section of wandering traders.
Larger dripping leaves can be broken with an axe and smaller ones can be obtained with scissors.
Drip Leaf Characteristics
Small Minecraft Dripleafs are a new plant found in the Lush Caves biome and are the smaller version of Large Dropleafs. They can also be found negotiating with traveling traders. It can be taken apart with scissors, otherwise it won’t drop anything.
The Big Drip Sheets are the main feature as they can be used as a platform. They can be grown naturally from small dropper leaves or using bone meal.
They grow on the end of a stem like an upright vine and have a texture similar to a water lily. If someone stands on it for 1 second, the leaf will sink and knock the player standing on it down. However, it will increase again after a while.
An interesting fact is that players can use the Redstone power to stop the leaves from flowing, but they must power them directly and not through the stem.
This falling effect in Minecraft Dripleaf is also seen when a projectile hits it or a frog jumps on it.
How to use Dripleaf in Minecraft
Although the Dripleaf primarily serves decorative purposes as it cannot be used for recipes, it can be used when building parkour structures in Minecraft. Additionally, the Big Dripleaf can also support the player’s weight for a period of time, allowing them to use it as a block to move from one location to another.
Apart from this, players can also use the Big Dripleaf to access higher structures in the game, as they can increase the height of the Big Dripleaf beyond one block by using bone meal on it.
Overall, the Dripleaf was a very interesting addition to the Minecraft universe and brought great benefits to players.
