The Minecraft Caves and Cliffs update added many new blocks and items to the game. These are all the uses for lightning rods in Minecraft.
The Caves and Cliffs update is one of the most significant updates the game has received in recent years. It comes right after the Nether update and aims to overhaul the game’s mountain and cave biomes. The copper block has been added to the game and players can find it by mining underground. One of the few items that can be crafted from copper ore is the Minecraft lightning rod.

What are Lightning Rods used for in Minecraft?
- As mentioned earlier, Lightning Rods can be placed on solid blocks to intercept lightning strikes. They redirect lightning within a 128-block radius. This means that any lightning that strikes within that range will be directed towards the rod.
- Lightning strikes are known to wreak havoc and cause significant damage, including setting flammable blocks and buildings on fire. This can be detrimental to some builds, but the Lightning Rod is here to save the day. If lightning strikes a Lightning Rod placed on a combustible block, it will not ignite.
- Players can also observe that the lightning summoned by the Channeling Trident is also absorbed by the Lightning Rod.
- It also emits a redstone signal when struck by lightning, which can be used to create automated mechanisms.
