OTT Platform – Netflix’s latest basketball film, “Hustle”, tells the story of Bo Cruz, a talented international underdog who struggles to make his way in the league and seems to capture hearts around the world. Given the skills he has displayed, many would consider him a true NBA player, which is true in every way. In the narrated film, Adam Sandler plays a Philadelphia 76ers scout named Stanley Sugerman. However, in Hustle, Bo Cruz is played by a real professional named Juancho Hernangomez. This is Juancho’s first acting role, which might surprise viewers, and this role makes him a much bigger part of the NBA world.
Born in the Spanish capital in 1995, Juancho Hernangomez started playing professional basketball at the age of 17 and signed with CB Estudiantes in 2012. He continued to play Spain national team Winning the bronze medal at the FIBA U18 European Championship in 2013. The team also had better results and won the silver medal at the U20 European Championship in 2014 and 2015.
At the end of the 2016 basketball season, Hernangomez won the ACB Best Young Player Award for his international appearances. It was then declared for 2016 NBA draft selection therefore.
Hustle star Juancho Hernangomez was drafted in the 2016 NBA Draft by the Denver Nuggets, where he was a First round pick and 15th overall pick. He was a valuable player in his three and a half seasons with the team, playing in 191 games and starting 37.


Hernangomez was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves during the 2019-20 NBA season. He played 66 games in which he showed his best basketball game and increased his statistics in all departments. After filming “Hustle” and playing Bo Cruz, real-life NBA player Juancho Hernangomez signed with the Boston Celtics for the 2021-2022 season. The 26-year-old star was traded to the San Antonio Spurs in January, who traded him to the Utah Jazz a month later. He did 2 playoff appearances one for Denver and one for Utah.
Excited about his film debut, Hernangomez said: “I didn’t know how difficult it was to direct and shoot a film every day. And I feel like I’ve fallen in love with everyone here. From day one, they treated me with respect. They taught me how to behave. And I’ve had the opportunity to meet a lot of great people, and that’s what I’m most proud of.
