The former captain met his better half through a common friend, Sunil Bhatia. Sunil had introduced the two and their first meeting took place in Delhi in 1979 during a Test match against the West Indies. Kapil scored his first Test century in this match and impressed everyone, including his then wife Romi.
In his book Triumph of the Spirit, legendary cricketer Romi Bhatia opened up about his marriage proposal which was purely cinematic.
