Pete Edward Rose is a former professional baseball player and manager. He was born on April 14, 1941, in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States of America.
From 1963 to 1986, Rose competed in Major League Baseball (MLB), most notably as a member of the Cincinnati Reds team, known as the “Big Red Machine” in the 1970s, which won the National League.
He also played baseball for the Montreal Expos and the Philadelphia Phillies. He managed the Reds from 1984 to 1989, during and after his playing career.
When Rose was accused in August 1989 of betting on baseball games while managing and playing for the Reds, he was banned for life from the sport. He was also accused of betting on his own club.
