America Sunisa Lee is a young gymnast who took the sport by storm with her brilliant performance at the 2021 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. After a stellar performance at the 2019 World Championships in Stuttgart, Lee won three medals in Tokyo (all-around gold, team silver and uneven bars bronze).
The 18-year-old is currently in a relationship Jaylin Smith, who is a USC football player and plays for the Trojans. He is currently pursuing his university studies at the University of Southern California and even represented the United States at Tokyo 2020.
The adorable couple went public with their relationship by posting photos on Instagram in which they are seen kissing in matching hoodies. Lee and Smith have also been spotted together in various public places and the duo isn’t shy about talking about each other.

Shortly after the two athletes went public with their relationship in the media, they received numerous congratulatory comments as well as hate messages. Lee and Smith were targeted on social media by a certain group of people because of their interracial relationship.
The teenage gymnast had even previously claimed that a car had passed them at high speed and had shouted phrases such as “…” “Ching Chong” And “Go back to where they came from”, and someone even sprayed the athlete’s arm with pepper spray. Due to this physical and online abuse, she had to disable the comments section on her Instagram account.
“I was so angry but I couldn’t do anything or control anything because they ran away. I didn’t do anything to them and having that reputation is really hard because I didn’t want to do anything that would get me in trouble. I just let it happen.” Lee said during one of their interactions with PopSugar.
