On Thursday, everyone at the UFC mourned the death of its main wardrobe designer, makeup artist and hairstylist. Suzy Friton was 36 when she lost her battle with stage four breast cancer.
Suzy was one of the most popular members of the UFC roster and worked for the company for almost 15 years. Friton was responsible for the lineup of ring announcers, commentators and octagon girls. She loved her work very much and the news of her death shocked everyone.
Friton has battled breast cancer for a long time and she has previously survived two bouts of stage 2 cancer, losing a lot of weight during that time and visibly struggling. Friton opted for a more holistic approach because she believed all Western methods were only making her situation worse. After the treatment was completed, her weight returned and she seemed to be doing perfectly well.
Just when everything seemed to be going well for her, she was diagnosed with stage four cancer in March 2020, the cancer spread to her liver, lungs, spine and other parts of her body and she eventually died.
Everyone who worked with her loved her dearly and everyone will remember her for the rest of their lives. In The Marcus Deegan ShowSuzy has spoken at length about the struggles she went through due to breast cancer.
Many UFC fighters have paid tribute to Suzy Friton, and here are some of the most heartfelt messages.
UFC broadcaster and commentator Jon Anik was completely devastated by the news about his colleague. Anik dedicated an entire podcast episode to Friton in loving memory.
“Gone way too soon @suzesuzeq I can’t even think of you without seeing that smile. The last time I saw you, I remember you were happy and just as beautiful. In this way, I want to remember you forever and always be a light to everyone around you. Thank you for putting up with all my harassment over the years, thank you for doing Jessie’s makeup and making her look so beautiful during all those weigh-in ceremonies and fight nights. We love you, we always will. Behind the scenes at the @UFC will never be the same without you, truly an original. #Cancer sucks. wrote Jon Jones.

“What an incredible soul we have lost. Your energy was contagious every fight week. We will definitely miss you. » wrote the welterweight world champion Kamaru Usman.

The 11th UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira was heartbroken by the news. He wrote on Twitter: “Thank you, Suzy Friton, for all the affection and attention you showed us during your stay here. God has a beautiful place for you. My condolences go to Suzy Friton’s family. Rest in peace.
